Our SIAM student chapter co-organized the summer school applied mathematics and mechanics (SAMM) on the topic Energy Based Modeling, Simulation, and Control of Complex Physical Systems, which took place at the Institute of Mathematics at Technische Universität Berlin from April 4 to April 6. The 45 participants from three different continents followed the lectures from our distinguished speakers Peter Breedveld and Arjan van der Schaft. Besides the very interesting lectures, the social program for the participants included a guided city tour and a conference dinner. Following the school, the participants had the chance to meet further experts in the field a workshop on the same topic from April 7 to April 8.
